Cricket Matches Experience different types of
cricket matches, including declaration games, limited overs matches, and a highly-competitive knockout 15/15 competition with a trophy for the winning team. A select XI also play against the local men’s team after the day’s play on the Wednesday.
Coaching All
players are encouraged to improve throughout the week. For those who
want advice on their bowling or batting techniques, there is never a
shortage of willing, and extremely able players prepared to take time
out to coach others - and this week is the ideal time to put into
practice what has been learned.
Evenings There
is a great social aspect to Cricket Week. The local cricket club and
pub are very good hosts so a welcome can be found at one venue or
another most evenings. Activities include a quiz, a hockey match, a match against the host
cricket club, Colwall CC, with a BBQ. Friday night
is usually the culmination of the week which is always a memorable evening with
a lot of laughs, team songs and awards for players' achievements during the week.
For 2008, there will be a coach trip on the Friday for those who want to go to the women's One Day International at Lord's in London, although this is not compulsory. The traditional last night will be held on the Thursday, which gives everyone 1 less day to write their songs!
